UHT vs pasteurised milk: which should you buy?
Both are real Farm Fresh milk -- the difference is how each is processed and stored, not quality. Here's the practical difference for a home buyer, and which of our cartons fits each option.
- Halal certifiedCertified halal by JAKIM (Jabatan Kemajuan Islam Malaysia).
- No preservativesContains no preservatives or colourings.
What's the difference?
UHT processing means the product is shelf-stable at ambient temperature until opened, giving a longer shelf life than pasteurised milk. Pasteurised milk, by contrast, requires chilled storage throughout -- it needs fridge space from the moment it's delivered, not just after opening. Of our 49 Farm Fresh and Yarra cartons, 46 are UHT and 3 are pasteurised.
Choosing UHT
UHT suits households who want no fridge space used until the carton is opened, safer bulk-buying with less spoilage risk, and a longer runway between shopping trips. A shortlist of our UHT "Fresh Milk" cartons, across pack sizes:
Farm Fresh Fresh Milk
UHT, 1L x 12 per carton
Farm Fresh Fresh Milk (Original)
UHT, 200ml x 24 per carton
Farm Fresh Fresh Milk (Original)

Choosing pasteurised, 2L and 1L
Pasteurised (fresh) milk suits households who prioritise a chilled "fresh milk" product and have fridge space and frequent shopping trips. Both of Farm Fresh's pasteurised cartons:
Farm Fresh Fresh Milk
Pasteurised, 1L x 12 per carton
Farm Fresh Fresh Milk
Pasteurised, 2L x 6 per carton
Which is right for you?
Both are genuine Farm Fresh milk, and either is a great choice — it just comes down to your kitchen. Want to stock up without babysitting the fridge? UHT's your easy pick. Prefer buying fresh and have the fridge space for it? Go pasteurised. You can't really go wrong here.

Does pasteurised (fresh) milk need to stay in the fridge?
Yes -- pasteurised milk requires chilled storage throughout, unlike UHT, which only needs the fridge after the carton is opened.
